So, my chair had been out of commission for a month \u00a0after getting caught in a rainstorm (see the story<\/a>). \u00a0I got it back after 1 long month of waiting for Medicaid to approve the paperwork. \u00a0A week later, I went up to spend the Labor Day weekend with my parents and sister. \u00a0We decided to go to the Marshfield Fair that Sunday.<\/p>\n

After the rain incident, I’ve been carrying a bag to cover my joystick in my backpack at all times. \u00a0We went around the fair enjoying the sights. \u00a0Rain was in the forecast, but not for another several hours. \u00a0We had just sat down to grab a bite when it began to pour. \u00a0Rivers of water were running down the buildings and tents. \u00a0We threw a bag over the joystick, and rushed into one of the exhibit buildings. \u00a0The fair staff began to close the garage doors to the exhibit areas, as the wind was blowing the rain into the building.<\/p>\n

My dad rushed off through the torrential showers to go get the van ready as we waited for a break in the downpour. \u00a0We waited for 15 minutes, but the rain would not stop. \u00a0We made a dash for another building. \u00a0The fair’s round barn, a notable attraction at the Marshfield Fair, was the next closest building. \u00a0We rushed inside.<\/p>\n

The round barn holds a large number of cattle during the fair. \u00a0We darted into the building and began to make our way to the exit on the opposite side. \u00a0As we strolled on, a wave of brackish brown water began to roll toward us, a veritable sewer of manure and filth. \u00a0We strolled through the nasty bile\u00a0and made our way to the exit.<\/p>\n

Rushing through the deluge, we finally made it to the van, soaked, but alright. \u00a0The chair came through without issue, thanks to the bag. \u00a0Lesson learned from last time, one empty plastic bag now remains a permanent item in my backpack inventory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
