Since July of 2014 we were graced with our wonderful, though sweetly strong-willed cat Minerva (previously mentioned in my post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stayingfrosty.net\/WP\/wordpress\/cat-astrophe\/\">Cat-Astrophe<\/a>.\u00a0 Sadly, summer of last year Minerva became quite ill.\u00a0 We weren&#8217;t sure what it was at first, and finally diagnosed it as pancreatitis in October of last year.\u00a0 Due to her difficulty using the litter box, and the scores of carpet around the apartment (which is odd for an apartment that was designed for wheelchairs), we were facing the tough decision of putting her down when a friend graciously offered to care for her at his farm house.\u00a0 She adjusted wonderfully, and made a new friend, before she passed in her sleep one night about a month later.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stayingfrosty.net\/WP\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/6527.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-554 alignnone\" src=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/_d_improd_\/6527-150x150_f_improf_150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minerva and her new friend<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stayingfrosty.net\/WP\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/6709.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-555 alignnone\" src=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/_d_improd_\/6709-150x150_f_improf_150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Minerva on the Farm<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stayingfrosty.net\/WP\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/6526.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-553 alignnone\" src=\"\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/_d_improd_\/6526-150x150_f_improf_150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">RIP Minerva<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>We miss her dearly, and cannot hope to replace her.\u00a0 But in the wonderful spirit she brought to the household and the family, we have adopted her brother Colton.\u00a0 Though Colton doesn&#8217;t have the fiery sass and independence that Minerva showed, he shares her sweet side.\u00a0 He&#8217;s a lovable ball of fluff who will cuddle with anyone he can as he waddles across the floor due to his ataxia (Colton was born with a shrunken cerebellum and thus has no balance nor coordination).\u00a0 Per Colton&#8217;s condition, we&#8217;ve had to get some adaptive aids for Colton, including pet stairs and Colton&#8217;s very own pet chair (pictured below).\u00a0 We&#8217;re just said that Minerva won&#8217;t get to meet her younger brother (though as with any younger sibling he&#8217;s getting away with all sorts of things that we didn&#8217;t let Minerva do).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_559\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-559\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.stayingfrosty.net\/WP\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_20180405_205902263.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-559\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.stayingfrosty.net\/WP\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/IMG_20180405_205902263-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-559\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Colton<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A pet is a wonderful addition to many a loving family.
